History of Alangalang

It all started one time when one of the Spanish Missionaries came into a group of natives trying to get over to the other side of a creek. Said creek was not that wide to need a bridge but seemed wide enough for leaping across. It was also too deep and steep to be waded through. One who would want to go over to the other side would always experience a point of indecision.

FROM A DREAM TO REALITY: THE JOURNEY OF THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF ALANGALANG

Some dreams begin quietly with a simple hope that one day, our young people will have an opportunity to pursue higher education without having to leave their hometown.

For Alangalang, that dream became a mission.

The establishment of the Community College of Alangalang (CCA) was never an overnight achievement. It was a journey shaped by vision, determination, countless discussions, hard decisions, legislative support, compliance, construction, and the unwavering belief that education must be brought closer to every Alangalanganon.

There were challenges along the way. There were requirements to meet, obstacles to overcome, and moments when the dream seemed far from becoming reality. But every challenge only strengthened the resolve to continue.

And on August 24, 2026, that dream finally opened its doors.

CCA is more than a building. It is a promise fulfilled. A promise that the children of Alangalang deserve greater opportunities, that education can transform communities, and that when a community chooses to believe in its future, A DREAM CAN BECOME A REALITY.

Today, we do not simply celebrate the opening of a college.

We celebrate the beginning of countless journeys yet to come.

From a dream, to a vision. From a vision, to a commitment. From a commitment, to reality.

The youth of Alangalang took center stage as the municipality officially opened its Linggo ng Kabataan (LNK) Celebration 2026 in Alangalang National High School, with Mayor Lovely Yu-Castro joining young leaders in the celebration.

The Local Government Unit of Alangalang warmly welcomed Jenny Marx M. Apit, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services/BSSW Faculty Adviser; Dr. Sandra Lynn A. Baybay, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Domingo A. Salubre Jr., Field Instruction Coordinator; and Social Work student-interns from the City College of Ormoc, who paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Lovely Yu-Castro, yesterday at the Office of the Municipal Mayor.

The Local Government Unit of Alangalang underwent a Mock Assessment

Mayor Lovely Yu-Castro officiated the civil wedding of the newly married couples, Mr. & Mrs. Jayson Cagadas Lamoste, and Mr. & Mrs. Mario Cagascas Rance, yesterday at the Office of the Municipal Mayor.

The Local Government Unit of Alangalang held its Traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony yesterday at the Municipal Terrace, LGU Grounds, led by Municipal Mayor Lovely Yu-Castro.
