Annually, the community of Alangalang commemorates the historic “Bakwit” reenactment, symbolizing the relocation to the town’s current site. This relocation was prompted by recurrent flooding from the Binongtoan Mainit River, which devastated the original settlement in November 1883. The reenactment involves active participation from the local government unit (LGU), educational institutions, national agencies, and various civil society organizations (CSOs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). This event highlights the resilience and unity of the Alangalang community in preserving and honoring their history.
