The Local Government Unit of Alangalang, Leyte emerged as one of the Gold Awardees during the KABASKOG Awarding Ceremony: Recognizing Champions in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) conducted by the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council VIII (RDRRMC8), through the Office of Civil Defense Region VIII on 20 January 2026 at the Radiant Hotel and Events Place, Tacloban City. The prestigious recognition highlights Alangalang’s outstanding performance and unwavering commitment to disaster preparedness, risk reduction, and community resilience, placing the Alangalang among Region VIII’s top-performing municipality in DRRM. Mayor Lovely Yu-Castro personally received the Plaque of Recognition, underscoring the LGU’s strong leadership and whole-of-government approach to disaster governance. Joining her was MDRRMO Cliff Errol Ripalda, who was conferred a Certificate of Commendation in recognition of his exemplary service and technical leadership in advancing the municipality’s DRRM initiatives.
