From Cash to Click: Alangalang’s Journey to Inclusive Digital Payments – Representatives from GCash headed by National Public Sector Head, Mr. Miguel Polido, paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Lovely Yu-Castro yesterday at the Office of the Municipal Mayor to discuss the development and promotion of a digital finance ecosystem in Alangalang. The said company proposed to empower public market vendors, TODA drivers, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the municipality by enabling them to accept digital payments through the GCash platform. During the said meeting, the GCash team emphasized the importance of financial inclusion and digital adoption, especially for local businesses and daily earners, which they committed to assist in onboarding to the GCash system, making transactions safer, faster, and more efficient. “We will help you with this, Mayor.” said GCash Leyte-Samar Public Sector Manager, Mr. Ganymed Macabit who pledged to assist in expanding the number of GCash outlets throughout the town to ensure customer convenience and accessibility for all Alangalanganons. Moreover, the dialogue also explored the potential implementation of a cashless system for distributing financial assistance and for the disbursement of salaries for Job Order employees under LGU Alangalang.
