Bringing Health Closer: Alangalang Holds Successful Medical Mission and Bloodletting Drive

ALANGALANG, LEYTE — Health services were brought closer to residents during the Medical Mission and Bloodletting Activity held on June 10 at the Municipal Civic Center. Organized by the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Alangalang in collaboration with volunteer healthcare professionals, the event aimed to deliver essential medical services and promote voluntary blood donation to strengthen local emergency preparedness. More than 500 residents benefited from free medical consultations, while a total of 60 individuals received treatment for animal bite cases, all under the supervision of Dr. Blesilda Aniceto, Rural Health Unit Officer who acted as the focal person for this service. Jeff Mark Ayo, the National Tuberculosis Program Coordinator, also led in providing treatment to 99 patients who received free X-ray services, helping to enable the early detection and diagnosis of possible health conditions. The Bloodletting Activity, headedby Vina Milagros S. Villanueva, Medical Technologist of LGU Alangalang, drew a strong response, with 109 successful donors, an effort vital for emergency readiness and ongoing medical needs. The success of the activity highlights the unwavering commitment of the local government, the RHU, and dedicated health professionals to making healthcare more accessible, efficient, and responsive to the needs of the Alangalanganons.
